We've been draining petrol out of diesel tanks in Adelaide for years, and it's the same story most weeks. Someone's tired at the end of a long shift, someone's rushing between jobs, someone's borrowed the boss's ute and grabbed the wrong pump. You name the diesel, we've drained one. HiLux, Ranger, BT-50, Prado, LandCruiser 79 and 200 Series, MU-X, Colorado, Navara, Amarok, Triton, and every Euro diesel wagon out there.
Call us before you start the car. We come to you, flush the system, and you're back on the road inside the hour. Servo forecourt, driveway, side of the road, doesn't matter where you are. We handle the mess and the disposal, you just drive off.
If you cranked it or drove a bit before you realised, still fixable on the spot, just takes a bit longer. The reason we push so hard on "don't start it": your car has a small pump that pushes fuel into the engine at high pressure, and it needs diesel to keep itself lubricated. Petrol doesn't lubricate anything. Every minute the engine runs on petrol is a minute that pump is wearing out. Not the end of the world in most cases.
The reason so many jobs are petrol in a diesel and not the other way around: diesel nozzles are fatter. A diesel nozzle is supposed to be too thick to fit a petrol car's filler neck. Works one way. The other way, a petrol nozzle drops straight into a diesel filler with room to spare. On night shift with kids screaming in the back, half a second, wrong pump, done. If you've done it, stop there. Don't start the car. Call (08) 7083 9699. We'll come to you.
